If you are looking for a carefree family vacation spot with river views that are simply awesome, look no further. Every morning you will awake to the sound of the wiper will, and enjoy your morning cup of coffee on one of several decks on the property. You’ll notice just how fresh the air is, and how lush and green everything is. Bald cypress trees are among the oldest living group of trees on earth, and the ones on our property are estimated to be over 1,000 years old. Take a walk to the river’s edge and enjoy a family of ducks or turtles basking in the sun. Launch one of our kayaks on the river and paddle up or downstream leaving all your cares behind. In the evenings, make a fire in the large outdoor covered stone fireplace, or enjoy smores around our fire pit.
Edgewater-Retreat offers gracious modern rooms, recently furnished with full amenities. Our main house sleeps up to 12 people – our Riverside Cottage will accommodate 6, and our Log Cabin sleeps 8. At over 2.5 acres and 350 feet of river frontage, you’ll find privacy and beauty throughout the property. Few places on the river are spacious enough for large family get-togethers, church groups, guys/reunions, or small corporate events. This vacation, everyone will get a chance for a real visit with one another, but there will be plenty of time for individual fun, too!
There is no shortage of things to do on the property and around the area. While Tubing the Guadalupe river is the number one draw, you can also enjoy fishing, boating, hiking, and sightseeing all around this part of the Hill Country. Just down HW 306 from us you’ll find the Horseshoe - a floater’s paradise. Next to it is the Whitewater Amphitheater with musical shows the year round. Go North on HW 306 to the shores of Canyon Lake and take in the Dam and the Gorge. Head over to the town of Gruene and enjoy the shops and restaurants, or to New Braunfels, the home of Schlitterbahn one of the most unique water parks in the country. This entire area has a special charm for every visitor with no shortage of things to do.
If you are seeking an affordable family vacation near to home this year, Edgewater-Retreat is just 3 hours west of Houston, 1 hour north of San Antonio and Austin, and 5 hours southwest of Dallas.
